What the event is
A 16-day limited event that added Sableye to your town. During the event you could trade Red Crystal Fragments at the Pokemon Center for ten new items, including the three pieces of the Treasure-hunting Set that build Sableye's habitat. Sableye stays in your town permanently after the event closes.
If you missed the event
You cannot farm new Red Crystal Fragments now. First check whether Sableye is already resident in your town. Then photograph any missing event furniture from a friend's island and print it at home with the 3D Printer.
How Sableye originally triggered
During the event, walking outside your home showed a popup that read 'A Pokemon is the talk of the town!' Sableye then stood outside the Pokemon Center and started the trade loop.
Where Red Crystal Fragments drop
During the event, fragments dropped in Dream Island underground caves only. Use Rock Smash on a Red Crystal Cluster to break off four fragments. Rock Peak (Clefairy Doll) and Volcanic (Arcanine Doll) had the most caves.
All ten rewards (64 fragments total)
Three of these (Adventure Kit, Map and Compass, Treasure) build Sableye's habitat. The shop is closed now, so use this table to identify what you need to photograph and reprint from a friend's copy.

Habitat-trio items first (highlighted) - that's how you house Sableye.
Speed up your runs
Three things stack: Rollout for sprint movement and faster mining, Hamburger Steak from Chef Dente buffs Rock Smash damage, and the Glide ability lets you spot cave entrances from above when you jump from height and tap R twice.
All ten rewards
See the full table below. Three items (Adventure Kit, Map and Compass, Treasure) make Sableye's habitat - buy these first if you want him housed.
Time travel - yes, with one cost
You can advance the Switch system clock to reset Dream Islands and farm faster. The only meaningful cost is in-progress Stamp Cards, which can lose checkpoints. Mystery Gifts, the event timer and your buildings are all safe.
After May 14
Sableye stays as a permanent resident. The reward items are gone from his shop, but you can take a photo of any item you have and reprint it on the 3D Printer back home - so even items you missed can be cloned later by a friend.
Frequently asked
Do fragments carry over to the next event?
No. Any unused fragments after May 14 are gone.
Can I get fragments on Cloud Islands (multiplayer)?
No. The event is single-player only. Cloud Islands skip event content entirely.
What if I miss buying an item before the event ends?
If a friend has the item, take a photo of it and reprint it on the 3D Printer. This works even after May 14.
Can I get more than 4 fragments per cluster?
No. Every cluster always drops exactly 4. Increase yield by visiting islands with more caves, not by trying to boost per-cluster output.
What is Sableye's habitat called?
The Treasure-hunting Set: Adventure Kit (10 fragments), Map and Compass (5), Treasure (5). Place all three in a 2x2 grid to claim the habitat.
Why isn't Sableye showing up at my Pokemon Center?
Most common reasons: (1) you have not rebuilt a Pokemon Center yet, (2) you have not unlocked Dream Islands via Drifloon, or (3) the event has not started in your local timezone.
Will the event come back?
Likely yes. Pokopia events follow Animal Crossing-style cycles, so we expect Sableye's Gem Hunt to repeat in future seasons.
Can I buy multiple of each item?
Each shop slot is one purchase per visit, but the shop refreshes when the event days roll over, so repeat trips let you stock duplicates.
