Pokopia 2.0 Update Guide: All Changes
Every verified change in Pokemon Pokopia Ver. 2.0.0 (Aug 4) and Ver. 2.0.1 (Sep 7), plus Bubbly Basin, Expansion Pass Part 2 timing and the October event.
Pokopia’s free Ver. 2.0.0 update shipped on August 4, 2026, followed by the Ver. 2.0.1 bug-fix patch on September 7, 2026. This guide lists what actually changed, item by item, with every claim tied to a source we re-checked on October 2, 2026. Official sources come first (Nintendo’s version history and The Pokémon Company’s own pages); independent coverage (Nintendo Life, IGN, Serebii) corroborates; anything community-reported is labeled as such.
Update note (October 14, 2026): the Halloween event announced below now has a dedicated page - see Pumpkaboo’s Sweet Surprises: window, mechanics and rewards for the sourced breakdown, countdown and FAQ.
The base of this guide is the official Nintendo Support update history for Pokémon Pokopia, which lists Ver. 2.0.1 as the latest version as of our October 2 check (the page itself carries an “[Updated October 1, 2026]” note about rating settings in Brazil). Nintendo Life’s full Ver. 2.0.0 patch-note repost and the IGN Ver. 2.0.1 wiki page match it. One date note: the two sources disagree by a day on the 2.0.0 rollout - Nintendo’s own history and Nintendo Life say August 4, IGN’s wiki says August 5. We use the official August 4 date throughout.
Ver. 2.0.1 (September 7, 2026): what it fixed
A small patch, officially listed as bug fixes only:
- Ho-Oh and Lugia no longer repeatedly descend and reappear under certain conditions.
- Pokémon can be found again via Pokédex search.
- The relocation kit can be picked up.
- Sound effects no longer repeat endlessly.
- Fixes for game freezes and for getting stuck on the loading screen.
- An “[Updated October 1, 2026]” settings change for the game’s rating in Brazil (per the official version history).
IGN’s wiki lists the same fixes and adds a practical warning worth repeating: online features such as Cloud Islands are unavailable unless you are on the newest version. Update before trading.
Ver. 2.0.0 (August 4, 2026): the free update, itemized
All items below are from the official patch notes (Nintendo Support; corroborated by Nintendo Life’s repost).
Dive and underwater building
- The move Dive is added for base-game owners: move freely underwater.
- The Build specialty can now construct houses underwater.
- Learning Dive still requires the Bleak Beach request “Raise the environment level!” plus the Jump and Surf abilities, as the official update page has described since July.
New items, patterns, emotes and hair colors
- New items: portal pod and safe, with recipes purchasable as Palette Town’s environment level rises.
- New pattern: dynamic Ditto print, obtained from Smearguru after getting the diploma.
- New emotes: Lie Down and Ready, Set, Go!, found in Bleak Beach and Dream Islands.
- Five new hair colors: orange, light pink, yellow-green, blue-green and brown.
Storage and quality-of-life (the big one for builders)
- Bulk item transfer between the storage box and your bag - no more one-item-at-a-time moves.
- Delete items inside objects, such as the garbage bin.
- Relic appraisal in batches of up to 10.
- Crafting now consumes storage-box materials before bag materials.
- Generator placement limit raised from 64 to 128 (furnaces excluded).
- Town photo displays raised from 10 to 40.
- Curved-eaves crafting output raised to 10.
Accessibility settings
- Option to hide the Magnet Rise cancel confirmation.
- Option to allow movement while the move wheel is open.
- Motion-sickness-reduction camera settings.
Moves and exploration
- Companions follow you during Surf, Glide, Rollout and Magnet Rise.
- Rollout can destroy boulders and similar objects; you can inhale and open your bag while rolling.
- Surf is usable on land (Surf plus the focus button), with smoother Surf and Waterfall activation.
- Strength works underwater; Leafage reverts farm soil.
- More Dream Island treasure via the Dowsing Machine.
- An “All” tab was added to the Pokédex and Habitat Dex.
Pokémon behavior
- Pokémon return if a destroyed habitat is rebuilt nearby.
- Sad Pokémon notice replaced furniture faster.
- Pokémon respond in kind when you use an emote they taught you.
- Held liquid stays in Ditto’s mouth without depleting the environment; released water auto-matches nearby water levels.
- Smearguru learns patterns from Reference photos.
Notable fixes (selection)
The official list is long; the ones players hit most often:
- “Follow me!” failing with building-assigned Pokémon.
- Suicune and Gholdengo unable to cross water; Pokémon falling into oceans or off cliffs when leaving habitats.
- Multiplayer building getting stuck; Cloud Islands relocation-kit permission errors.
- Dream Island loading failures and wrong return destinations.
- Rock Smash displacement while falling; duplicate party cooking pots; sand-house paint resets.
Bubbly Basin: the paid half of the August drop
Ver. 2.0.0 launched alongside Bubbly Basin, Part 1 of the paid Expansion Pass (Nintendo Life lists it at $34.99 / £29.99). Per the official Expansion Pass page, checked October 2:
- It is available now and develops an underwater town - so it builds directly on Dive.
- You must finish “Raise the environment level!” in Bleak Beach and learn the free-update Dive move before starting.
- Purchase bonuses (checked October 2): a recipe for dynamic Ditto print blocks and wallpaper claimed in-game via Downloadable Content → Check Items, and a one-time emailed code for 30 Rare Pokémetal ingots if you buy the pass by August 31, 2027 (code valid through September 30, 2027).
What’s next: Part 2 late 2026, Part 3 in 2027
- Part 2 will arrive in late 2026 (official Expansion Pass page). A September 16 Nintendo news article adds the first content detail: in-game accessories - “sunglasses, ribbons and bow ties” - and coordinating looks with Ditto and other Pokémon. No exact date was published as of our October 2 check.
- The same official page says Part 2 adds no new town; the new town comes with Part 3 in 2027.
- Physical release watch (independent report): Nintendo Life reports a Pokémon Pokopia + Expansion Pass bundle on a single Switch 2 game-key card launching October 29, 2026 in Japan and South Korea, with a bonus item code for buyers. Regional availability elsewhere was not announced in the report.
The October event is officially scheduled
The official Pokémon announcement (published September 30, 2026) schedules Pumpkaboo’s Sweet Surprises from October 17, 2026 at 5:00 a.m. to November 1, 2026 at 4:59 a.m. local time. Befriend Pumpkaboo near rebuilt Pokémon Centers, earn Pumpkin Candy by surprising Pokémon with Camouflage (learned from Zorua at Bleak Beach), and trade the candy for event furniture - including pieces that support a Gourgeist habitat. Pumpkaboo and Gourgeist stay in town after the event ends.
Community note: r/Pokopia threads had been anticipating an October Halloween event before the official announcement landed - that discussion is now confirmed by the official post above, so treat Reddit dates as secondary to the announcement itself.
Redeem your gifts before returning to the grind
One code redemption is live right now and ends soon: P0K0P1AGARDENS (Chansey Plant) runs out on October 7, 2026. The Mystery Gift codes page has the current list, the Ditto Rug internet-gift window (through January 31, 2027) and the step-by-step redemption path.
